Octy vRS Climate Control Query

Featured Replies

Ok, this might sound like a stupid question.

When I have the Climate Control switched on to 'Auto', the system is allegedly supposed to (according to the handbook) regulate the temperature and distribution of airflow.

Now, I've had the system running for a while, and it only EVER blows cold air from the face level vents. Never from the footwell or dashtop vents. The CC in my Xsara Picasso blows air out of all the vents and moves the airflow around to make the whole interior a broadly similar temperature, but in the Octy I just have damned cold hands and face, and warm feet

Admittedly I haven't had the system running for more than 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour at a time, but in the Picasso this all happens within a couple of minutes.

Is the system faulty, or is it just crap CC? Anyone else have this problem, or isn't it actually a problem?

TIA

Dan

Same here. It's not the best of implementations, but as my previous car didn't have any AC I'm quite happy with it :)

OK Q. So am I just being paranoid? It just strikes me that really Climate Control is kind of pointless if you can get better results by just manually controlling the air distribution and setting the temperature...

I'm not reallly complaining as, let's face it, it's better to have cold air rolling in than hot air... it just seems a bit weird that it doesn't seem to do much controlling of the general climate....

I suppose its working on the scientific theory that cold air sinks and hot air rises. Blowing the cold air from the top sinks to the footwell, the hot air there rises from there and is expelled using the normal ventilation. If you only blow cool air into the footwell, then the top part remains hot as happens in the mondeo when I forget to change the air setting. I much prefer CC over the old manual a/c in the mondy.

Your system is behaving ny normal its the same on Superb. I tend to get cold hands also especially as my wife always has here vents switched off. Not having a decent summer doesn't help!

I rarely use the Climatronic on AUTO for the very reason that its choice of vents and blower speed is rarely what I want. I override AUTO by selecting the fan speed I want and the vents too - normally all 3 options of windshield, dash (head) and footwell. QED :)

Jus go manual.

Lot easier to control. Auto is nigh on useless!
