octavia vrs dump valve

Featured Replies

:D does any1 know if there is a dump valve for my 2001 vrs 1.8t(180 bhp) which will be the whooshing type and if so where and how much cheers :D

Hello leo, and welcome to Briskoda

The general consensus of opinion is that atmospheric dump valves (the noisy ones) don't work too well with the 1.8T engine. They dump air which has already been meterd by the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, and can cause the ECU to throw an error. The engine really needs the recirculating type of DV which is fitted as standard.

Forge and Bailey have developed dual-piston hybrid DVs (part recirculating and part atmospheric) which claim to solve the problem, but there aren't enough user reports to suggest whether or not these are any good.

The standard DV does make a "whoosh" noise, but you can't hear it because it's muffled by the standard airbox and filter. It's worth investigating the various CAI (Cold Air Induction) kits which are available. They will give you a useful increase in performance, and as a side-effect will make the existing DV more audible.

Welcome, leo. :D
