Featured Replies

I was looking at the vag products website and i noticed they do a vag com 4.09 usb cable and then found this bit saying it comes with software shareware version 4.091.

will this show me fault codes as i dont really want to pay the ross tech price as cant afford it at the moment.

this vag com stuff is so confusing:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Do your goods come with software?

ALL of our goods come with the relevant software. Our VAGCOM cables come with the shareware version of 4.091

It will show you fault codes yes.

cheers will it do anything else and would it work on an 04 oct vrs? and is the software an older version of vag com?

I will understand all this one day lol

Pretty limited as its the shareware version IIRC.

Yes it will work on your vRS, pretty basic diagnostics.

Is there any other way i can check for faults etc without spending a fortune, like the same lead and then an older version of vag com from ross tech as heard you can download old software for free, i might have heard wrong lol

The lead you want is one that will handle the free to download 409.1 software. This will allow you to read and erase fault codes but thats about it. Should you wish to do more you will need to upgrade the download to the full software version which your cheap cable will run fine. You will be able to log boost, maf, duty cycle and other cool things.

Or join Freedom and a nice chap might come round and do it for you. :)

lol cheers hedge i keep meaning to join freedom but every time i remember im skint.

IIRC it's $99 for the licensed software to work with a USB eBay cable.

The trial version is quite limited but is good enough to work out if your cheapo lead works ok with the SW.
