Couple of vRS questions

Featured Replies

:) A couple of side by side comparisons between my Dad's 53 plate Fabia

vRS and my 54 (face-lift) vRS.

On flat level ground, opening one cars door onto another mine is about

10mm lower than his (tyre pressures both OK) this is by gauging where

the black exterior trim should meet at the same height.

Also, and this is very, very noticeable. My hatch-back seems much

heavier, when he closes it, being used to his, it slams shut.

The restrictor stay things seem fine, and they both 'balance' at exactly

same elevation. If you close his ie drop it, from say 10 inches, it barely

closes properly, where as mine booms shut and feels heavier.

Are these known 'face-lift' differences??

Not worried, just curious, cheers:)

I think I read somewhere that very very early VRS's had different suspension to later models - a number of journos commented on the poor handling of the car and so uprated dampers and -15mm springs were then fitted.

But... it could just be an internet rumour.

Hello mate, funny you should say that, I remember reading a 2005/06

review and the bloke said it seemed they had sorted out some of the

handling issues, although Skoda denied any such changes were made.

It was either a face-lift or Se review:)

Are both cars equal on the amount of fuel they have? Does your car have anything heavy in the boot? This might explain the 10mm difference, especially if one tank is full and the other emtpy.

the other difference seems to be as standard,my blt engined se,left both my mums, dads and 2 of my mates asz engined cars for dead, especially in the mid range, then on awesomes rolling road the reasons why became clear,on re mapping the car i gained very little in bhp(only 18hp)155 to 173,but in torque gains it went from 270 ft lbs to 346ft lbs,and now goes like stink:D

:) mine's an asz engine, same as me dads 53 plate.

Are other 'face-lift' cars blt??

I'll be honest I don't know the difference, but I've seen asz somewhere

(poss in engine bay on a lable?)

As for fuel/boot loads, there's negligible differences.

i think they brought the blt engine out in 2006 to meet euro 4 emisions requirements

Are other 'face-lift' cars blt??

My facelift 05 is ASZ.

BLT engine is in a higher tax bracket next year so an extra £15! crazy to say it meets the Euro 4 compliancy and the asz doesn't yet the asz gives out less co2...maybe the blt gives out less particules?

so the BLT is a more tuned engine from factory?

we had 2 blt engined cars on this rr day,my se and a yellow one, both gave very similar power, the asz engined cars were about 15bhp down, and 30 ft lbs of torque, coupled with mine being significantly quicker mid range than friends and famly cars, was proof enough for me:D
