Fabia Front Lower Arm Rear Bushes Worn

Featured Replies

Hi went to my local ebley yesterday for a wheel balance and they told me my Front Lower Arm Rear Bushes are Worn and should be replaced because it will be an mot failure..

just wondering how much it will cost to get them replaced at either the Skoda garage or somewhere local..

i hear the seat Ibiza bushes are best as they last longer?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Probably, was it not the alignment that caused your tyre place to comment on this failure. I'd use search and you will unearth lots of info on this subject. Replace them with Ibiza Cupra TCA rear bushes - and get a proper VAG indep specialist with a alignment rig to do this work as it will need a four wheel realignment - that is what whacks up the price.

:thumbdwn:

i will try phoning around on Tuesday i have a vw specialist near me would they be good to do it? and a local guy not so good or?

if i went to skoda and asked them to put seat cupra ones in would they be like what the feck ?

ta

I fit em for £120 all in. Its a fair bit of work but makes a massive difference. I'd also do Powerflex wishbone bushes at the same time.

How much are the seat cupra bushes now?

Just under £20 for the pair inc VAT iirc.

Do you do wheel alignment as well Lummox?

I dont no sadly, dont have the equipment at the unit to do it. I can usually get them pretty much spot on to what they were though.

where you at lummox?

sounds good mate!

also how do better bushes make a difference? i thought they were just there to stop your wheels moving inwards and outwards?

i guess the handling is better or something at a guess?

If you look at the design of the bush, the standard Fabia one has air gaps in it which means it isn't quite as rigid as the Cupra one which is solid and commonly used to replace it.

The console bushes are £16 for the pair. Fit them youself and save some cash.

I did mine and powerflex'd at the same time for £56 all in.

There's a guide on here. You'll need some big sockets etc....

And why would you need 4 wheel allignment??? Your only doing the fronts!!!

Get your tracking done for about £10 at a local garage. Thats all mine cost about 2 month ago

hmmm i would do it myself if i had a clue about cars :D

i would get the old ones off and there it would stand for a good couple of weeks

If you are doing them where you remove the console then wheel alignment could be out afterwards and the console moves thus altering the camber plus you undo the rack bolts.

Tracking is not four wheel alignment and thus doesnt check camber or the alignment of the front wheels to the rear of the car usually and not for a £10.

Northants/MK boarder, not far from Santa Pod. Unit details are in the member section (for Freedom members).

Here is a little explanation..

The crap std bush in the console

Tool goes in

Run the tool up with the trusty air gun

Bush flies out

Fit the new bush and assemble

No big sockets, no presses and no bleeding great ratchet straps.

how far away are you from cambridge? as you can understand if i can get it done cheaper without traveling as far (petrol costs) here i will do :D

very good pictures thanks but i cant really understand whats what because im rubbish with cars...

thanks again!

Not sure on how long it will take. Tom lives out that way and he used to come and see me for servicing etc.

Fully understand the cost/travelling. I do it as cheap as I can or think is fair, not doing owt for free, I got to pay the rent ;)

Ahh KK fair point but I did mine with the consoles still in place so not needed in my case
