I need your advice (07 octavia RS air filter)

Featured Replies

I will buy an air filter for my 07 octavia RS. Which one do you prefer ? I want to buy the best performing one .

Thanks

Which engine? TFSi or TDi

It's a bit of a matter of choice to be honest, everyone will have their own preference.

Are you after a replacement panel or full intake kit?

There's minimal performance improvement with a panel filter and little variation between the different types. I use a Pipercross foam filter

Thanks ... it's a 2.0 tfsi

Hi

There is Pipercross air filters and a few Cotton gauze ones

We do K&N and also Jetex

The foam ones when first fitted will not give as much air flow as the cotton gauze ones

But after a few miles , 500ish the foam filter will give better air flow

This is down to how the particals are filterd

I had a Pipercross one fitted on my car and saw an average of 4MPG more on my Fabia

We do the Pipercross ones at £28 + VAT

Awesome > Golf Mk 5 2.0 FSI Turbo 11/04 -

Then we do K&N at £35 + VAT

Awesome > Golf 5 2.0T 05>

Or if you have any questions , please feel free to ask

I use a green panel filter in my 07 tfsi and it does seem to give a slightly better pull at higher revs.

However it isn't warranted to use these higher revs (5k+) unless you are booting it or having a loony moment, so there ultimate usage is somewhat limited.

I'd still put one in any car I could though. lol.

I've got a K&N replacement filter fitted. I noticed better throttle response and slightly better pull from mid to high revs. It was a more pronounced improvement than when I fitted a K&N into my old Civic Type-R. I'm guessing because it's Turbo vs. NA.

Some don't trust the oil based filters but I've had no issues in ~15k miles since fitted and I know the guy who owns the car parts shop I got it from... he reckons they are better than the foam based filters and sells about 10 K&N for every 1 Pipercross.

I get mine at trade price  so I'm just going to get a new one every 20k rather than risk cleaning and re-oiling which I reckon could be the cause of probs as I wouldnt trust myself to get the amount of oil just right. (yes I know that's not very eco-friendly of me but it's cheaper than fixing my car)

A Green panel filter gained me all of 1bhp and no torque when done within 5 mins of testing standard and uprated filters back to back on a dyno. Took car for a drive and restarted it to see if it made any difference and back on the dyno; 1bhp over standard still.

Hope this helps you make your mind up.

thought id read on here that it was about 5 restarts of the car before the ECU learned its new setttings for things like this? (that last statement may be complete rubbish, it was just something I remembered from another post)

Can anyone tell me what part number the K&N filter is for the new Octvia RS petrol? And does anyone know how to get to the air filter??!! I can't work it out!

33-2888 that is the part number for the MK2 2.0 vRS

The air filter is in the engine cover at the top

There is a pictorial somewhere here if you can turn it up in the search.

Hiya sarah, i,ve got an octavia vrs tdi PD 57-plate and am looking to buy a replacement air filter element. I do a lot of motorway miles and want to improve fuel economy and responsiveness.

Which air filter would you recommend? and how much would it cost?

Cheers

It's a remap you need then, not a new panel filter.
