turbo issues maybe ?

Featured Replies

when i start the car up , not all the time , but most of the time , the turbo sounds like its not spinning up right .

but when i stop n turn the engine off and start it back up its fine and pulls like **** of a shovel . any ideas

If its from Cold then secondary air pump is active for a short time to help engine warm up I think. on lots of 1.8Turbos the pump sounds like the exhaust blowing(common fault is the rivets loosening) and then it stops. when you start then switch off and restart, chances are its had enough time to do its thing and you will then get the **** off the shovel. I thought I had broken mine when I started up in the morning after a late night run, but after searching found out its not a major problem if they get noisy, although there is a fix listed somewhere.

it is from cold , so is the best thing to do is wait afew minutes before i set of ?

you really shouldn't thrash a turbo till its up to temp anyway so just drive the first couple of miles while its warming up, then enjoy.

yes but it didnt help much  .

i think its overboosting and putting the turbo in safe mode . it like it re-sets itself when i turn the engine off and back on again .
