remaping to 160bhp?

Featured Replies

hey,

i relise if i was to remap my VRS to the full 180+bhp then the clutch and turbo become highly unreliable! so, i wanted to know if their was any1 out ther who has had ther VRS remaped an extra 30bhp to make it 160bhp.

i figure this amount of power should be ok and still keep the clutch and turbo very reliable, am i right? or am i wrong?

i also add to this theory, that the seat ibiza cupra has 160bhp, and i assume the engine and clutch, turbo etc is all the same?? or am i wrong again? lol

thanks.

Most remaps only make 160-ish anyway :)

oh, :s. so i guess ppl have added filters and exhausts to get the between 170-180bhp then?

any i just want to remap my vrs to a reliable bhp figure, anyone know how high i am able to go?

Id be happy with around 160bhp and 270 lb/ft torque with a smooth curve.

I r/r'd mine and got 173bhp and one of my friends got 179bhp, Its just how hard its been mapped, tbh i'd rather be safe and have 160

ok cool, so 160bhp is a safe figure to go for, and i shouldnt encounter any problems from the rest of the engine? and i dont need to get anything else for it, i just want to make sure.

You'd benefit from getting a PD160 intake off an Ibiza for sure but there quite expensive, £70 IIRC but thats all you should need....

Then really its as far as you want to take it after that.. Bigger brakes improved handling etc

ok cool, thanks. just out of interest, the Fabia VRS and the the Ibiza FR and CUPRA all have the same engine and clutches and turbos etc dont they?? apart from the PD160 intake??

I think they have different turbo's but i dont know about the clutch at a guess id say it would be uprated

seat 160 also has a FMIC and a bigger turbo.

you're better off with a smoother curve to protect the clutch

smoother the better

torque spikes kill turbo's and clutches

You better getting it remapped to just under 300 torques, as that is where the clutch is limited too

My custom map at Jabba is 160bhp and 300ft/lb. I asked for clutch, flywheel and turbo friendly and that's what they gave me. Still goes WAY better than standard and gives me 55mpg all day long.

They got 168bhp without trying but it started to smoke a little so to avoid upping the boost they backed it off to a straight 160.

mine is mapped to 173bhp with 270lb/ft torque

Basically it pulls well throughout the whole rev range rather than have a big lump of clutch murdering torque low down then falling sharply. The BHP figure is the end product of continuous torque over the full rev range.

Therefore you can have a high BHP figure as long as the power delivery is smooth, even and consistent. If that is the case it wont cause any issues.

ok thanks for all the advise guys. im no to fust on loadsa torque tbh, id be happy with anything around 260-280lb/ft of talk, and defo gona get it as curved as poss tho. and if possible try and get 175bhp, id be happy with those figures as long as they keep the car safe, ino the fabia vrs is abit heavier that the ibiza cupra, but if i get it remaped to tht spec with the filter it shouldnt be far of its performance firgures which is what im aiming for :D

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that a remap to 160bhp would be an increase of between only 5 and 10 horses if the many reports of stock BLT engines putting out over 150bhp are true?

160bhp sounds quite impressive only when stacked against the official 130bhp.

Hello mate. Do you have a rolling road printout of the angel tuning map?

How much did it cost? Did you get it from Longlife?

How did it work? It is generic or tweaked to the car?

Wings of Peterborough have/had a Superchips demo car that only does 162bhp but the torque was horrendously high, and it all came in at once (2100rpm iirc) and it was like being hit with a tennis racquet, but that lunched clutches very regularly indeed.

As I understand it, it's not the power that destroys the clutch, it's deploying all the torque at low revs.
