Fitted that cheap air induction

Featured Replies

i got one of these kits and it was fine even with the crappy filter, i just put a few layers of tights over it.

it fitted straight on without having to move anything.

i have a px279 kit that i bought before for the octy but took it off as it lost power coz it sucked in hot air from the bay. was gonna sell it coz it wouldnt fit in the small area in the bumper.

howerer, if you put the pipe in but dont bolt it so you can move it around you can get the PX filter on and using 2 jubilee clips. then i put some green friendly round the top to seal it then bolt it in. it only just fits and there is a fraction of space between the horn and filter.

i feel bit more confident now using the better qual filter.

i have fitted my ebay CAI this weekend and have the blue pipe left over which is a bit worrying, ive fitted the little filter over what i assume is the breather pipe, noticed i have the little metal pipe bit sticking out of the side of the alloy tube, i aussumed that this would suck in unfiltered air so have temporarily blanked it, is this gona screw up my car

dont suppose anyone has a picture of what they have done with the breather pipe and the blue tube etc?

many thanks

The blue pipe should fit on the breather on the CAI pipe and then go to the black secondary air pump feed. you can partially see it here

what about the little filter? on the right angled breather hose?

I didn't get a little filter. The right angle breather is the secondary air pump feed and on mine it connected to the blue hose and fed from the CAI.

ahh okey dokey, i shall do that then

im guessing that i wont be needing the little filter then,

thanks

I got the filter in mine its still in the box

Mine is done the same as the picture

mine too lol

the filter is there for another car that doesnt have the sec air pump. so they only need one kit for all the 1.8T varients

I don`t rate BMC CDA much. Used to have one. The whole enclosed filter can be quite restrictive imo. Great for keeping air cold but not so good with air flow at higher revs. The cheap pipe that just goes down to the bumper with a big cone filter on will be alot less restrictive as the filter is sucking directly from air instead of through a small opening at the end of the enclosure!

Air correctly directed into a relatively small bore can be better and perform more like ram air than turbulent air from inside an engine bay behind the bumper though. Your logic is not necessarily correct.

I bought one of these the other month, Was a fiddle to fit, Didnt have to relocate my horns, didnt get the breather filter, Bolted it all up, Looks and sounds the Nuts with my 007p too!

They say replace the ebay filter but this is my use and abuse daily car :)

It wont last long with the crappy filter mate.

Worth spendin another £35 on a good k&n one for it.

I used the one that came with it with added tights over and it still let crap thru. Very fine dust bet still not nice. Needless to say it didnt stay on for that many miles
