Hi all ive just bought some 17" Octavia Spider alloys to put onto my Fabia. The tyres are a standard 225/45/17 what i need to know is can i put these straight onto my Fabia without potential problems or do i need a different tyre size? Thanks for all advice in advance.

you need to downsize the tyres, i believe its 205/40 R17 you will need but you may also get away with 215/40 R17

what is the best match for the speedo to still b correct though?? or near enough

Yes, definitely need a tyre change. Your two only choices are either of the sizes already mentioned.

Speedo - both are within tolerance really. I would go with 205/40/17 being closer though. I've ran both sizes on various wheels on the Fabia.

mine are 215/40

215/40 gives a pretty close indicated speed, to actual GPS speed - only 3% over roughly. 205/40 will give slightly higher indicated. 225/45 is way too big for a fabia though.

Unless your like me running -300mm or something stupid

I went for 205/40/17 when I had mine as I preferred the lower rolling resistance of the narrower tyre!
