Insurance cost's for another car

Featured Replies

I really don't understand them :confused::confused::confused::confused:

Just called my insurance company for a few quotes

Octavia vrs tdi was £170 per year more than my modified mk1

Mondeo st £130 per year more than my modified mk1 octavia

I then asked about a hybrid turbo on my car and that only upped my insurance by £60:confused:

So instead of getting another car I could just hybrid mine and have it even more special.

Does this puzzle anyone else? I know a newer car would cost more to replace should it get stolen or written off but would that really justify more cost than a reasonably modified car thats only 2 year older and how come a Skoda is more expensive to insure than a mondeo, I would have thought the mondeo would have been more desirable to thieves

My Elise costs me about £270 IIRC for both of us but is limited to 5k miles per year. This is also without any no claims as that is used on my Octy.

Could be that Skodas are more expensive to repair than Fords so not all down to desirability.

Fords are cheaper to insure.

My Octy II is a group lower than the MK I was and cheaper to insure, so I think you need quotes from elsewhere if the MK II TDI is more than the MK I.

I shall be shopping around as my current insurer wont insure the cars I'm looking at and the broker has found somewhere else so my policy will be getting renewed so will be looking elsewhere too.
