vRS TDi - more engine problems

Featured Replies

Sadly, my vRS TDi is back in the garage with engine management problems.

The problem started a week or so ago with a mild stutter when accelerating. Things got slowly worse, then on Tuesday the coil light started flashing, then the engine light and it went in to limp home mode.

The local garage checked the fault codes and said it required a new turbo pressure switch (?). That was fitted this morning and no joy, problem remained. They now think it's a wiring problem and so have retained the car and said they'd be in touch sometime next week

This is now the most unreliable new car I've owned (and they include a Fiat)

Only a month or so ago it required a new exhaust pressure sensor and shortly after I got it (Jun 07) it spent a week in the garage whilst they sorted out the first of the multiple engine warning light illumination displays.

I could be half tempted to replace it, but I'm not sure what with.

As an aside, they've loaned me a poverty spec 1.9 diesel hatchback and it's not a bad car. The loss of performance seems almost adequately compensated with impressive economy (just did a quick 150mile round trip to Birmingham this afternoon and it showed an indicated 58 mpg and I wasn't hanging around) and the reduced grip is offset with a more comfortable ride.

The only two things I really missed from mine (performance apart) was the Jumbo box for the centre armrest and a sixth gear (lost count of times I went for an imaginary sixth). Other than that it makes a lot of sense for the economy minded

Can,t go wrong with the 1.9 TDi

Just been advised by the service department that my car is going to be off the road until the end of the month as the parts it needs (part of the wiring loom I think) are on back order

here here - tried and tested

Mine has just completed the VRS TDi recall. Various Emissions mnagement lights came up an DPF light. a sensor change was done a part of the recall.

all well so far.

Check your dealer to see if a recall on your model was done.
