Sump Plug - Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Could any kind soul out there confirm please if the attached 19mm sump plug photo looks like correct item for the vRS, before I take the old fitted one out on a Sunday morning and find the new one doesn't fit. Has a steel washer rather than the copper/composite types, presumably relying on the steel biting into the softer seating face on the Aluminium sump to create a seal?

Should be correct item but the part number given elsewhere in the excellent guide threads on the forum shows a part number N90813201. Having obtained this one, although from a most reliable source, they advised the VAG part number has now changed to N90813202.

Just wanted to confirm it looked right with fellow Briskodian's who have done your own changes already. This'll be the first on a vRS, although certainly not the first I've done, and am not yet familiar with the parts detail.:)

Many thanks

It looks like a standard VAG sump plug. I've never looked at my Fabia one, but it is the same as on our 1.4 Lupo and the TDI Audi I had. I think they are all the same.

PS anyone know the GSF part number for one?

N90813202 is the same for a 1.9 (130) Superb, so i would of thought it would be the same?

FWIW they are only £1.08 for Skoda

Thanks for the feedback,

Got 3 from a local trade parts specialist and with a 'collection only' consumables discount they're running, were only £1.10p each incl VAT. Had a number of other bits to get as well so came as part of a 'bulk buy'.

Have read that on some engine parts, Ford dealers can also be very cheap for the common VAG parts used in PD130 engine units that Ford fitted to some of the Galaxy people carrier's.

Make sure that you get the washer central when you nip it up, otherwise it may leak. I have had two of the do that on two different Fabias recently and had to slacken them off and reposition the washer to stop it.

Never had that problem before in 20 odd years of changing engine oil!

Yes I agree, it seems that VAG just wanted to make things easier rather than make these bits fit for purpose. I can't say that I've ever had trouble using or reusing the correct sump plugs (on VAG petrol engines only), but they look like there could be the possibility for them to cause a problem due to the slight under-cut at the head of the plug.

the even cheaper method is to just buy the washer , cut the old washer off , fit new washer , cheap as chips

FYI Mazdas have a washer which is perfect for the job
