Anyone with a vRS + Cupra splitter had problems on the ferry ramps at Dover?

Featured Replies

Morning,

I know it's an odd question! I was wondering if anyone had tried getting on or off a ferry at Dover/Calais with a cupra splitter on a vRS?

I know they're quite steep, but I'm not sure if there will be a problem. I want to avoid removing the splitter if possible.

Cheers,

Phil.

Phil,

If I remember rightly they can adjust the ramps angle slightly to avoid cars and vans etc scraping.

I'm not sure about ferry ramps but I know i've not been able to get off my drive properly since I fitted my splitter:rolleyes::D:eek:!!!

Mine scraped on the NZ Interislander ramps without a splitter - the Kaitaki is an ex French cross-channel ferry (Pride of Cherbourg) :D

Mine scraped lightly getting onto the Brittany ferry from Plymouth. I don't have a splitter & the sound came from somewhere near the middle of the car! :(

The problem was not entering the ramp but exiting over the hump at the top.

Mine scrapes all the time... doesn't really do any damage as long as you don't do it at silly speeds.

You can drive around the problem, instead of driving at the ramp head on if possible, try and approach at an angle and you should be ok. My lowered vRS had no problems getting on/off the ferry. Where I did have problems was with the Mezzanine decks some of the ferries use, in that I was unable to drive up onto them due to the angle of the ramps, the staff on the ferry can usually tell though and always directed me to the lower deck though.

Thanks for all your comments. Looks like I might be ok providing I don't rush on like a mad thing. :D

The Norfolkline ones are fine IMHO as I saw a heavily lowered car get on and off last time I was on the boat.
