Bright shiny new windscreen

Featured Replies

Just picked up my Octy from the dealers.

Brand new windscreen fitted under warranty because of a 2-3mm band of delamination along the bottom edge. Doubly chuffed cos when I bought it, it had lots of fine wiper scratches to which I added a deeper one. :D

Seem to have done a good job fitting it - only driven it home so will see on a longer trip tomorrow.

Thanks to all those who posted on this delamination issue - I would never have thought anything was amiss had I not read your posts.

Eccleshill,

I have a similar problem with the delam. I take it yours was an approved used Skoda with a Skoda warranty? What age is your car and how did the dealer react to your requested replacement? Did they need firm "persuasion" ? My local dealers are a bunch of verynicepeople NOT, pity I bought it off a dealer 110 miles away :(

My car is a June 2006 Octavia Elegance and was bought from Skoda main dealer at 1yr old with 2yrs of new car warranty remaining - so it was not a used car warranty.

I took it in for a service at end of August and asked them to inspect the windscreen as I thought it was delaminating (I didn't ask them to replace it). My plan was to get it recorded as a reported fault in case it got any worse - delamination was minimal - just 2-3mm milky band along 75% of bottom edge.

To my utter amazement, without any prompting from me, when I picked it up after the service they agreed that it was delaminating and had ordered a replacement. They then forgot to order it so it took 3 weeks to get it fitted but that didn't cause any problems.

Dealer is DM Keith in Bradford.

Don't forget to check your parking ticket holder is still in position - they have a habit of being missed!

PS No problems with getting my windscreen replaced when I had a 54 plate Octy Elegance - car was jut less than 3 years old when I had it done. Pics of it somewhere on here if you search other delaminatin threads

Yes, mines a 54 plate Elegance too. Had mine for about 6 weeks with a full Skoda warranty and noticed the delam effect. Just wondering if the local mob will entertain this warranty query. Having enough probs getting my cruise control fixed :(

Yes, and mine too does not have the parking ticket holder - possibly indicating my windscreen has been done before and still delaminationg ?

Everything is present and correct including tax disc and ticket holder.

Before I took it away I also checked around the screen on the outside for paint chips and on the inside for badly fitted trim and dirty hand prints - it was spotless! In fact the only way I could tell anything had been touched was that the rear view mirror had been moved and a small bar code sticker had gone from the bottom right!!

Drove to work this morning - no whistles or rattles. Oh and no starburst when driving into the sun.:D

All I need now is some rain to check out the auto wipers are OK - did I really say that?!:eek:
