Throttle body injection on a rapid.

Featured Replies

Anybody tried it?

Was thinking injection only, maybe a megasquirt, and let the dizzy do the timing.

The Saab I'm currently driving is fantastic fun, but very thirsty.

I was thinking Alfa 155, or Honda Prelude which will both be fun to drive, and overall better on fuel.

A Fabia VRs would solve the problem, but I can't afford one, but I'm ebaying for a Rapid that I should hopefully get fairly cheap, which I admit would give the fun element but need more attention.

I could stick wapping great carbs on it, but then it is back to heavy drinking all the time.

But I've been thinking about throttle bodies, and a tuned exhaust as the car I'm after is an 8 port rapid 136.

now, should I think about seperate body for each cylinder, and get the most out of an NA engine, or should I consider using one throttle body for all 4 cylinders with seperate injectors, which will rob NA performance, but make it easier to setup a blow through supercharger setup, should I choose to later?

I know I can get a Weber/Dellorto manifold for the Rapid from a guy in CZ with enough time, but obviously it won't have the injector bosses, so ideally seperate bodies with built in injector bosses would be ideal, and maybe using a VW or Fabia fuel rail (I take it petrol injection is based on a standard rail, not seperate fuel lines).

Anyone injected a Rapid/Favorit/Felicia, I take it I would need to include a Lambda sensor and an airflow meter somewhere in the system to get the best of it.

meatball ever heard of a 135 RIC ?

I have, but AFAIK, it was single point system like the favorit, and early felicia, but based on the not terribly efficent bendix system.

Most people with the 135 ric's tend to dump the throttle body and manifold, wap on a carb, and just leave the bendix box connected in minding it's own business.

Mind you, I could probably fit a Felicia MPi head which would increase flow, allow the use of the MPi manifold/injectors, and find an oversized throttle body to get more air in, and use a megasquirt, unless emerald could run their ECU with the standard system.
