Work under warrenty. how long good for?

Featured Replies

Hi

just before the warrenty ran out in July, had both front wheel bearings replaced (and one rear, all at different times, due to supply problems).

Now one is knocking again, about 3 months/ 1500 miles later.

How long is warrenty work "warrented" for? any ideas?

I was told before that parts fixed inside warranty have no warranty so once warranty finishes then tough, but from a consumer affairs point of view this is Bull. The repair has to be fit for the purpose it was intended.

At the end of the day whats stopping them replacing eg dodgy wiper switches with more dodgy ones until the warranty runs out.

I thought that out of the 3 year warranty it was 1 years parts cover.

The only thing is that you had it done during the 3 year manufacturer's warranty and I'm sure any parts replaced during this time are only cover until that manufacturer's one runs out.

I may be wrong but worth contacting your dealer without mentioning when the warranty ran out and the may replace it free under the years cover. I always keep invoices when warranty work is carried out for my records for dates and what work was carried out.

Hope that makes sense?

thansk for that....

just realised, i have never been given an invoice or docket for any of the warranty work, for any of the 14 times/ parts replaced

I get asked when picking the car up to sign something which usually has FOC on it(free of charge).

If they aren't forthcoming with an invoice I ask for one.

If you've always used the same garage I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to get invoices for the work carried out.

It's good to have all these things when selling a car.

Its 12 months on parts.

i also believe that the parts have a 12 month warrenty regardless of when the 3 year warrenty runs out.i am a bit concerned about the noise that u have described tho, wheel bearings rumble/hum when worn out and c v joints knock when worn.:)
