Wabey's Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I have copied and pasted from somewhere else that I have posted this, and thought I would whack it up here as well,so excuse any references to "today" or "next week" etc

On the 7th July 2007, i test drove a Skoda Fabia vRS, after wanting a change from the Fiesta, and always liking the look of the vRS. I noted that my local main dealer had one for sale, at a reasonable price, so along I went. I test drive it, and loved the smooth drive, and punchy torque at 2k rpm....and negotiated a bit of a discount on the price, and decided to have it. That Thursday...i went and picked it up! Driving it home that night was superb, and on Dual Carriageway, the pull at 70 in 6th was superb.

Knowing I was getting the car, a swift £50 for some new bulbs left my account, and they were delivered on the Thursday....these were fitted as soon as i got home, with a bit of help from my dad...who is a legend at doing these sorts of things! I got some Philips X-Treme Power H7 and some Philips Blue Vision H3 and the difference is amazing!

This is how the car stood...completely standard, apart from Headunit....:

right, an update on a few things. When I got the car, i knew The Vinyl Store sold a Skoda sticker, so I went and had a purchase of one of those, as well as buying a sticker of the Skoda's Owner Club that I have signed up to. Really recommend the sire (www.briskoda.net) as it is a wealth of information!

next was some new rubber. The Michelin Primacyy's I had were loud and uncomfortable, and they were getting alittle lower than I wanted considering winter was approaching. I popped to my local rubber supplier, and he quoted £414 for some Pilot Exaltos....which was more than I really wanted to spend...so I asked him his recommendation...and he pointed to the Kumho Ecsta KH11, and they weighed in at £204 for 4 fitted and balanced etc.....so I got some on order and had them fitted

Next is something cool! After checking through Briskoda, and me being unhappy with the windscreen wipers, I sought an alternative. It seems you can get an "Aero" retrofit kit. The Aero wiper are basically the wipers supplied with new VW's, Audis, and nor Ford and Nissan have started to do them. I got a set on order from www.wiperblades.co.uk for the grand sum of £25 and they were delivered the next day (today) so I got them fitted.

Much better...so looking forward to a little rain next week now! Apparently these are better, and quieter than the standard ones...so it should be all good!

right, a few more little bits. Firstly...one thing I forgot to mention. When the rents went away on holiday, they purchased a keyring and valve cap set, with the skoda logo on them. They keyring was ****, and fell to pieces straight away, but the valve caps are still going strong. They will probbaly be considered tacky, and I suppose they are...but there is something about them!!

Next, came an aerial replacement. The standard one is a little long, and can be shortened with a nifty little upgrade, so i bought one off ebay, and here is the replacement:

Next little detail will come in nice and handy. The Fabia only has 1 drinks holder, which is located between the front seats, which is a bit of a crap position tbh, and when carting people to football, they normally (and me) need somewhere to put the Lucozade bottles (namely, but I always have a drink on the go in the car anyway) so when I came across a post on Briskoda by a member stating he had whacked in some more drinks holders, i though "I must have some!" so on sunday night I ordered them from VAG Parts OE parts from the people who really know OE parts! and they pitched up this afternoon. They are the Double Cup Holder from the Polo and cost a mere £31 delivered, which I didnt think was too bad.

Oh, and at TRAX, I recieved one of these stickers, so it had to go on

well, another couple of touches. After joining Briskoda, I noticed that there was a group buy going for some new wheel inserts (there not actually wheel inserts, they are just high quality stickers....extremely high quality) so i had a purchase of 5...

4 to go on the wheels and one for the steering wheel:

The one fore the steering wheel is perfect, as it is what it should've had from standard imo...a vRS logo, rather than thr Skoda one.

Thats the only update at the moment I am afraid. This weekend though, I plan to give the car a really good clean, and whip the wheels off to clean them and coat them in wheel sealant....but we'll see how the weather flows!

tiniest of tiny updates today..the car got de-badged

Also, My H/U went Pete Tong...so out it came, as well as the Music Keg...and in went a new one, with iPod Connector:

Well, it has been a little while since i update you all, and there have been 1 or 2 changes.

First, the badging on the rear has gone from none at all to just a simple vRS logo

Next is a bigger change, and it was done this morning. The Bonnet lifter has changed from the metal bar to the hydraulic lift from Devonutopia which is much better as I never had much confidence in the metal bar to hold the bonnet up.

right, its been a while...but we have an update!!

Took the car in to have the wheels refurbished and sprayed anthracite

It won't be to everyone's taste, but I got some Skoda Wind Deflector's fitted
