Aux Scoket Broken

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I went to plug my MP3 player into my aux socket (in the jumbo box / armrest) yesterday, only to discover it had disappeared down into the darkness!

To be specific, if I lift the little flap up, the actual metal jack socket has disappeared, I guess it has come away from the plastic trim. Shining a torch down the plastic hole I can see the socket floating about an inch below where it should be mounted.

I am still under warranty, but it is a real pain getting to a dealer during my work hours - especially if I need to leave the car with them (my nearest dealer is about half hour from my work place....ruling out my lunch break etc).

My question is, is there a simple way to access this area so that I can fix myself? I cannot see any obvious way of accessing this area...any pointers appreciated. Once I'm in position, it should be fairly simple to affix the socket back to its rightful place!

Whilst I'm on the subject...what is the purpose of the plastic 'lever' in the jumbo box, next to the Aux socket? The one with a loop on top that pulls upwards, revealing a small hidey hole at the bottom. Maybe I'm being stupid...but I cannot think of its practical purpose.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Air con input to keep the box cool

The vent ends into a tube leading to the aircon system.

I think you can remove one of the jumbo box side panels. If not, you can sure remove the rear ashtray/vents and use your gynecological skills to work from there.

Thanks both for help. Could not see how to remove the side panel, but did remove the vents.

Unfotunately there is still some distance, and obstacles, to get to the socket so i guess I will have to wait until I can visit the dealers. I need longer fingers!

Thanks again.
