Replacment key

Featured Replies

currently bidding on replacment key for the car (evilbay)as it only came with one flip key. I know that it is quite easy to programme the key to the car but how do you programme the transponder to the immobiliser???? Is it a dealer job or something easier????

Hi,

If the transponder hasn't already been locked to a car then all you need is the immob code and someone with VagCom. Unfortunately, there's a good (bad!) chance that you will need to replace the transponder before you're able to program it to the car. This isn't too expensive, but to change it you need to lift the Skoda emblem off the key which is difficult wihout damaging it.

Let me know if you win it but need further advice programming - I'm quite often near York if you can't find anyone else local.

cheers tkw will let you know how i get on only an hour or so to go it.

I paid £5 for the imobiliser code from the Dealer and then used my Vag-com to reprogram the key. I got the key from Ebay Poland and the total cost for the key was about £40 i think. You'll need to use Vag-com to get your imobiliser code and then take it to the dealer. Next day they'll give you another code to access the recoding part of Vag-com to do the key. The actual process is very easy and took me about 15 minutes. Don't forget to code the central locking to the new key.

Key - £30

Cut blade - £5

Imobiliser code - £5

Right had the blade cut and they bodged it but said that it was the wrong blade (slightly smaller) i went and enquired at skoda about it and got told that i need a new blade transponder and even after then i would need to get a new remote. Are they just trying to get money out of me? The fob and blank blade and everything all look brand new not like it has ever been on another car.

They cut my blade wrong the first time. Had to get a new blade and cut it again. The second time I went to a security shop to have it cut and they did it properly. Not sure why the dealers said that to you, but all you need to do is follow what I put in my earlier post and you should be fine. You can get the instructions from ross-tech website under "key matching" but I do have a copy if you need it.

You will need to take it to the dealers. You can match the remote section via vagcom but good luck doing the immo.

And you will need all your keys when you code the immo of the new key. Audi did mine for less than £20 all in.

If another dealer (Audi, Seat or VW) can do it for a cheap price then I would have them do it. I did it myself only because I had Vag-com and the key, plus Skoda dealer wanted about £200 to supply a new key.
