Swindon speed cameras ..they're back

Featured Replies

Looks like the speed in Swindon has increased after they stopped using them so now at least one is working again (Queens Drive) I know because the car in front of me today had his picture taken .....to be fair they did say if the speed increased they would reinstate them....be warned

People are idiots.

If they had just behaved (as said by clarkson) things might have changed.

Its like anything though aint it.

Mobile phones for instance. If people stuck to just using them a little more sensibly, maybe a quick 30 second call to say "im driving, will call you back" or "i will be home at xx.xx" etc and not when negotiating a roundabout or tight right hand junction etc then things wouldnt of been done to curb there use.

But no, morons dont learn. SatNavs will be next (ie a Specific Offence rather than a generic catch anything offence), as well as other stuff that people just cant be bothered to do when its maybe a safer moment.

I'm not necasarily saying that driving with a mobile is safe, but there are times when its safer and more sensible than of other times.

its no suprise that it be brought back, i reckon really they were making more money than they thought they would as each partnership has to put in paperwork to say how much they reckon they will take in for that financial year, what they to spend etc. if they go over it they lose their grants etc, so i reckon by november/december they will be fully operational. Have you noticed that none of these sites have been taken down, just covered up with a red bag.

I do hope they will be banning smoking at the wheel after seeing some class driving followed by a flick out straight into a bikers helmet this eve.

What concerns me more is that this gives the government ammunition for continued or increased use of speed cameras in other areas.

Perhaps Swindon was all part of the 'justification'?

it might just be the cast that its not loaded with film just so if people see them flashing that they will think they are live again.
