Under bonnet soundproofing

Featured Replies

Hi,

has anyone noticed that the level 3 fabia's seem to have a layer of soundproofing on the underside of the bonnet, this seems to be missing from the level 1 and 2 fabia's.

I was just wondering if it could be retro-fitted, and if possible does anyone have the part numbers for the soundproofing and the clips.

Thanks in advance

David

I am sure you can purchase it but you may do better to buy a kit from Halfords/ Noise Killer which is far better quality.

Just to add a little I have a Fab3 and the sound proofing is best decribed as minimilist. My last m/v an A160 CDI I bought a kit from Noise Killer for about £45 and cut the shapes myself. It was made from bonded type of carpet / underlay with a metalic surface that fronted the engine. It was far superior to that I have now.

Is it expensive? Or actually will it reduce the engine noise (on a 1.2 HTP) to make the money spent worth it?

It reduces the noise on my 1.6 16V...

But my soundproofing thingy came as standard...

hmm.... I had it on my 2002 1.4 mpi 8v if I remember correctly too. I'll check locally how much it costs, and if it is only a few € I'll get it and see the results . The noise my 1.2 does reminds me of the Maruti 800 I had once... same noise - 3 cyl engine :D
