EU import warranty registration

Featured Replies

Hi

Just ordered an Octavia vRS - an EU import.

I've had a number of EU import cars before (Subaru) and never any trouble with warranty because Subaru run a very good pan-European system.

Skoda seem to be a bit different though. Anyone know how the warranty gets registered with Skoda UK? Is it case of send off a copy of V5c and they put the car on their system? Any advice/info most welcome.

Cheers.

You only get 2 not 3 years but otherwise I think it's a case of calling them and asking what they need.

Hmm...

Called Skoda UK customer services and the guy told me to just show my V5c vehicle registration form to a dealer and they will do warranty work. No need for any kind of registration with Skoda UK themselves. Can anyone (perhaps with experience of owning an EU import) confirm if this is correct? Sounds a very 'laid back' approach and I wonder if the CS operative got it right. I was also quite surprised to be told that imports are also covered by Skoda Assist.

Suppose at the end of the day they are the same cars made in the same place (i believe so anyway) so they should be covered by the same warranty etc as they are no more "risk" to cover than a UK one.

Just ring up again and ask... you will be through to someone else and if you get told the same then its more likely to be true!

Hi,

I used to work for a while in Italy, took my car down and serviced it there.

We got same issues with the car, (electric window 2x, brake failure with change of main brake cylinder) and we never got a problem with the warranty. Our 3 Year UK warranty was also fully honored, while the local warranty is only 2 years. Also the Italians know what SERVICE stand for!!
