Suspension settings Octavia 2 08 tdi VRS / Fitting a rear ARB

Featured Replies

now the way the apr setup is described makes so much more sense than just displaying the diameter.

i think that will help in decision between other manufacturers, and the 200%increase at rear 105% increase at front, now that seems like a well matched pair. its a shame the other manufacturers dont display the %increase. you could choose the driving style and setup so much more easily

and very valid point reference these all being developed for the mkv golf, and the extra boot of the octavia. that def something i never contemplated.

im pretty sure that the OE bars are tubular and the Aftermarket ones are solid so i reckon the difference would be quite a lot. I've got Stu's old bars and have yet to fit them but when i do i shall let you know what i find

It ain't necessarily so! ;)

I believe whiteline bars are solid, but my Neuspeed and the APR (to come) are tubular.

From a pure physics point of view, assuming the same grade metal and diameter, a tubular bar is actually stiffer than a solid one, even though its lighter; I know from kart racing experience (of rear axles).

i think i have read the same about tubular being stronger than solid somewhere before, plus less weight which will always help.

i do find that hard to believe. Im not calling anyone a liar but how can a tubular bar be stronger than a solid one

dont quote me on that, ive just read it somewhere,

i suppose at the end of the day, its all down to the rigidity of the materials used and the thickness of the metal that forms the tube and the manufacturing process. also if the two different materials used on each bar differ then there could be vast differences. god knows wots right really:confused:

im only an electrician, ask me one on that:rofl:

in fact dont ill prob get it wrong:O

the blue wire goes to live the red to earth and the green & yellow to neutral.....Correct? :P

:rolleyes:you've seen my work i see

lol, thats it(you might need a new fuse though)and a new appliance:rofl:

Have you ever seen a Circus strong man bend a tubular bar? No, 'cos they always use a solid bar (its easier to bend).

In karting a solid rear axle will be used in the wet as it is less rigid and will flex (to give softer more compliant handling) whereas a hollow axle will be used in the dry as it is less flexible (to give sharper handling).

Apart from that; its a matter of physics, which I haven't got time to explain now, sorry; just trust me! ;)

ok like i said i wasnt saying anyone was lying i just fail to see how something hollow is stronger than something solid. After all my body armour certainly isn't hollow :P will just have to take your word for it :)
