For the fourth year in succession, Mitsubishi Motors UK will support the Rally Supercar Day at Castle Combe Racing Circuit on Saturday 14th August, a unique event which provides performance car owners, enthusiasts and businesses the opportunity to get together for a day of social motorsport.

The Rally Supercar Day was first held in 2001, initially organised in conjunction with the Mitsubishi Lancer Register, a nationally recognised club for Lancer owners and enthusiasts. Now promoted by its own organising team, the event still sees the Mitsubishi Evolution as the most prominent car on display and because of this inherent connection, Mitsubishi Motors UK has supported the event since it began.

For the past two years, Mitsubishi Motorsport, the Rugby based operation which prepares and runs the works World Rally Cars, has provided a WRC Lancer and one of its top drivers to demonstrate just what these cars are capable of - much to the delight of the crowds.

This year it's the turn of current works driver Daniel Sola, who will be driving a 2002 Lancer WRC on the showcase rally stage.

Other guest appearances on the day will include the two McRae brothers; Colin and Alistair, the younger of the two rally legends a former Mitsubishi works driver and therefore demonstrated a WRC Lancer at this event in 2002 and 2003.

Mitsubishi Motors UK will underline its presence at the event with a sizable display of vehicles, including its current World Rally Championship contender, the Lancer WRC04,.

In addition, the stand will proudly feature the works Group N Evolution VIII, driven by Brendan Crealey in the National Rally Championship and the works Shogun Warrior, driven by Colin Read in the British Off Road Championship. Both vehicles currently lead their respective Production Category Classes by considerable margins.

The new Evolution VIII 260 and models from the electrifying MR (Mitsubishi Racing) range will also be on display, along with a number of the marque's market leading 4x4s, including the versatile L200 pick-up and the impressive and purposeful Shogun.

Potential Evolution customers will have the opportunity to take a ride with famous racing driver, Barry Williams, to experience a few memorable laps of the 1.85 mile circuit in either a 260 or MR version of Mitsubishi's iconic high performance saloon.

Other Mitsubishi on-track activities include an appearance by former works driver Pentti Airikkala, who will be reacquainted with the 1985 Starion he campaigned in the British Rally Championship. Britain's best known stunt driver Russ Swift, together with his son Paul, will also be entertaining spectators once again, this year driving Evolution VIIIs - as only they know how.

Event organisers are delighted to receive continued support from Mitsubishi Motors UK, as joint promoter, Brian Stubbings explains:

"Having supported the Rally Supercar Day since it began, Mitsubishi's presence is a very important part of this event and raises the profile of the day. We are also thrilled that Mitsubishi's WRC team will again be providing a car and works driver, as this is such a great draw for spectators."

Organisers also benefit from Mitsubishi's association, the Cirencester based UK operation providing L200 pick-ups as support vehicles.
