Turn signals occasionally does not work

Featured Replies

Occasionally the turn signals/emergency signal does not work on my Octavia (1.6 petrol from 2000), i.e. lights are on, but without blinking. By turning the lights on and off a couple of times I am often able to provoke it to work again, sometimes only for a few seconds, though.

Any ideas about what could be wrong?

The hazard switch (which controls the indicators) can be problematic on the Mk1 Octavia. If you do a search you should find it's been well covered. They're not overly expensive and they take a couple of minutes to change at the most.

some people have had success at taking the the switch out and cleaning the relay part of it. A free fix is always better than one you have to pay for!

Thanks for your hints - I'll check out this hazard switch (if I can find it). Found a description elsewhere in the forum, so lets see what I can work out.
