My L&K could do with this treatment methinks.

It's never been right from day one, handles like it's in a crosswind and the cars ar5e shimmies left and right slightly when going over a bump in the road at high speed (sunk expansion joint for example) :thumbdwn:

I think SWMBO's vRS could do with it as well seeing as the entire back end was rebuilt :eek:

This thread reminded me to get the other car, MX5, checked and the geometry correctly aligned. There's certainly plenty of positive feedback on the MX5 forums for such work.

Now the current model MX5 has a particular issue with geometry in view of the UK spec ride height, so I'm looking forward to you weaving your magic next Friday Tony.

The vRS is brand new so I haven't even thought about that one yet, but I'm fascinated to understand more about the topic and the benefits of fine tuning. As someone with a keen interest in motor sport I recognise the importance of a well set-up car in that environment and will be interested to see how much difference it makes in less extreme use for a road car.

I have put my head on Mazda's legal chopping block several times regarding the MK3... Many people have warned me not to expose issues with the chassis and suspension as i'm sure you are aware... Nevertheless the facts are real so i feel comfortable exposing these issues to current or respective owners.

I think the power of Mazda would have rang a liable bell long ago if my exposure wasn't the "truth, the whole truth".

Sad thing is the MK3 has the best chassis i have seen in 25yrs of chassis calibration and the whole thing has been raped by EU regulation.

I'll leave you with this thought....... Front wheel alignment, what do they align them to?

Sorry too Hi-jack but what can be done with a mk1 octy as there is no rear adjustment or much too do with the front come to that. Any trade secrets you can pass on???

Yes.... Looking outside of the box.

Since the MK1 chassis has limited adjustment then by design the chassis is perceived as stable, if an owner has problems then a solution needs to be evolved within the corrective adjusters or diagnostics needs to be used to suggest alternative routes.

Indeed.. The information however well bread needs to be analyzed, the information gathered by the software offers suggestions not solutions so it's up to experience (human) to utilize the best path.

Sounds very familiar! Mine skipped out slightly and just generally felt unsettled over tarmac joins at speed previously - now it doesnt even register them as being there!! :) Its quite a transformation and one Im appreciating more and more each day over familiar roads. :thumbup:

have you any other outlets nearer kent?

i normally use elites in essex as they are the nearest place that i have found to do a good job. but next time i want it checked i wouldnt mind getting a new oppinion on things

No but Elite are good, another exemplary company is TDI-plc but get a price up-front they can be expensive.

Im very interested in this, my car as not felt right for a while now, same sort of symptons cornering feels unpreditable and feels unstable at high speeds!

I have koni fsd's, rear arb etc on a mk1 octavia vrs, is there much adjustment though on the mk1? Would WIM be able to make it feel better?

If the car is adjustable or not you have a complaint so at the very least the reason needs to be identified.

Well tbh I'd never really considered the amount of tyre noise from the car a problem (I've had cars much worse than this in the past!) but one of the first things I noticed as I joined the motorway was the lack of noise coming from the rear - like a low level droning had disappeared!

As I say, I never really considered it a problem but its now noticeable by its absence. :thumbup:

I would like just to confirm that this is absolutelly valid for Okty with 4x4 and rough road suspension as well.

following this discussion I've taken my Okty 2 to the diagnostic centre in order to check & correct the geometry settings.

Looks like all other settings are as per Skoda's recommendations except the Camber value on the rear where mine as well was on the upper limits -1 degree 83' (R and L) after the correction to -1 degree 20' the car bacame much more confident and silent.

Therefore, the setting for the Camber on the rear of -1 degree 20' is valid not only to the normal (2UA) and sport suspension (2UC) but for the 4x4 and rough road (2UB) as well.
