Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Open/Short To Positive

Featured Replies

Getting the following Message when scanning for faults in VAGcom, wondered if anyone knows a likely fix for this. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Open/Short To Positive

Yup. Replace the sensor! I did a TG that covers the 1.4 MPi and the 1.9 PD130 here, but it should be enough for you to change yours whatever engine you have...

Replace the switch

It is a common fault

Anyone know any good places to get the sensor from, as only found one place so far online, that seems very expensive.

059 919 501A

That is the part number

These can be bought on line , GSF , Euro Car Parts , dealers ETC.

I hope that helps?

Sarah

What fault would the sensor show apart from the temp gauge reading wrong ? cheers - Stuart.

Potentially, nothing. On my wife's (petrol), the needle on the temp gauge stayed on 'cold' occasionally, however on mine (diesel) the gauge was fine, but the glowplug light would sometimes take ages to go out, and I got a rogue engine management light (no fault recorded when it was on, however an intermittent fault recorded for the sensor when it wasn't on...) Sorry I cant be of more help!
