I own a Fabia 1.9 Diesel and my wife owns a Octavia 2001 mark II diesel. They are both fantastic cars, which we have had the odd problem with - mainly electric based which are a pain and expensive to remedy! But generally we both love our cars and we are always impressed by the MPG :):)
