hissing sound after changing cambelt ?

Featured Replies

 Just stripped the engine (OCY AHF 1.9 TDi y2000) and changed the cambelt pullys and water pump yesterday, took it for a test drive late last night and drove OK untill you put your foot down, there is a hissing noise which wasn't there before and slight hesitance and then a slight knocking. Do you think by taking the engine up and down on the jack that its dislodged a pipe coming off the turbo ? had a quick look to see if any pipes at the top of the engine had come off but couldn't see anything. cheers - Stuart.

It might have loosened a pipe, and probably an emissions pipe at that, if it's not well down on power above about 1500rpm.

:thumbup:Sorted ! it was the rubber input pipe on the turbo which has a metal end on it which is attached with a circlip to a hard plastic tubing fixed to the wing and I didn't attach the circlip properly, now back to normal performance ! ps- if you change the fuel filter fill it with diesel and the engine will start right away, NOT like I tried with it empty cranking the engine over for ages and not filling the filter up ! :o cheers - Stuart.
