Vag lead

Yes and the software

Yes it is, but that version is useless on the newer octavias. Vag-com is now defuct and replaced by VCDS and VCDS will only work with a legit ross-tech cable and not a third part one because the license is contained in the cable itself. Yes it will sort of work, but you will not be able to access all the cars controllers. To get full functionality of vag-com (unless that version is counterfeit in which case this post will go byebye) you will need to register the software with ross-tech. Factor that cost with the cost of the cable, and the saving is tiny. Much better to buy the real mccoy with the latest software for slightly more.

It appears to be lead that will work with v704 of VAG-COM. So long as you stick with v704 then it will communicate with your car and probably do what you want. Obviously if you try and use a newer version of VAG-COM (or VCDS as it is now) then it will not work.

I guess that was my query also as Im currently looking at £200+ for a legit version of VCDS. :(

Cheers,

Lee
