What would you do?

Featured Replies

53 plate Octavia vRS estate, everything is stock.

Quite fancy a bit more poke, torque but (much more relevant these days) without losing fuel economy or (if I can hope for such a thing) an economy boost.

I'm wondering remap plus tuning (to be done at same time as service), and want to know what to expect.

My vRS is 180bhp, no idea of the torque, and it would be good to know how much to expect in terms of bhp increase and torque increase, plus mpg. And of course cost.

Right now, not sure as there seem to be loads of options, but my budget is a modest £500 to start with and I wonder what i can get (don't mind a bit of a drive but I'm based near Edinburgh so local would be better). I have a tame mechanic but he is very disapproving of after-market mods (long story) so I can't really use him...

Any suggestions?

Roseisle Motor Company in Whitecraig near Edinburgh, are Forge iPro agents.205bhp and 300nm torque for around £500.The results are fantastic.Had mine done a year ago and still smiling

How's the fuel economy on that, and is it a remap or a mod? I'm a beginner at all this!

How about superchips?? bluefin?? 57lb-ft and 27bhp increase for your 500quid! (probably haggle and get that lower:)) all you do is download the software into you obd port and your sorted. anyone can do it easy instructions and they get v.good reports, with more mpg in some cases.

I wonder if I can get to a 'tenner per extra bhp' deal anywhere? I'm wondering whether I can get to 210bhp for around £300 cash- maybe Star Performance would do it, though that's a bit less than their rrp...

That'd leave £200 for perhaps uprated shocks - d'you think I could get anything near decent bought and fitted for £200?

diesels seem to stuff the price up, any petrol normally 350, diesels up to 500:thumbdwn: not fair!!!

have you tried the dastek/unichip guys in edinburgh, seemed quite a friendly bunch when i enquired there in the past??

I believe Bluefin is only avail for the Mk2 Vrs.Have only heard bad things about Star Performance and Dastek if it is still around.A few on here slag of Superchips also.
