Power Steering Fluid (Pentosin CHF 11S)

Featured Replies

This is meerly a guide aimed at topping up your power steering fluid if you feel it heavy. After trolling the forums for a while I became apparent of the lack of a simple guide to A. Find the fluid tank and B. Topping it up. I figured I'd put it all into one post so its easier to find if anyone ever has the problem!

You know you have a power steering problem, if you see a light appear on your dash in the form of a steering wheel followed by a exclamation mark. This could mean an array of things but most probably its your hydraulic fluid that assists your steering (or its a very good thing to begin with). The main problem is its rarely (If ever) Checked and topped up on services.

To check this you will find the tank underneath the car battery in the engine bay, getting under it is quite a task in itself and requires you to remove the battery box by removing bolts positioned around it (you cant miss them) and also removing the Air filter for the engine and the air intake tube attached to the air filter. Once you've sucessfully removed them, you will find just between the Front passenger side headlight and front passenger wheel well INSIDE the engine bay, a green (or in my case black with dirt) cap. Unscrew the cap and check the dipstick on the end of the cap to see the level of your hydraulic fluid, if you can't tell take a good look in the tank. If you can see nuts and screws and NO fluid, chances are you've found your problem. You can top it up with any brand of fluid ASLONG as it contains the word Pentosin CHF 11S Hydraulic fluid, or equivelent wording. I got mine from halfords for what its worth and the bottle is self explanatory! Fill the tank up with a funnel, seal it up, replace everything to its original position making sure its screwed in and test your steering!

I hope this helps, I'd provide pictures but I did mine in the middle of the night :( If anyones willing to give this a go and provide pictures I would be grately appreciative!
