6 Days Old, 1st Repair!

Featured Replies

Well I'm 6 days into Skoda ownership (Octy vRS) and I've just booked it in for its first warranty repair!

What happened was both of my front windows were slightly down and I'd got out of the car! Walking away I noticed they were open so I held the lock button down on the keyfob to close all windows.

Both the fronts closed and the pass rear window (which was already closed) made a cracking noise and then dropped down! Thankfully I've persuaded it back up using my hands pressed on both sides of the glass so its still sealed at least!

Booked in on Wednesday to get the 'Window Actuator????' or something sounding like that replaced.

Hopefully not a sign of things to come! :(

not good, hope its a one off and not a friday model

I have found Skoda ownership not to be without regular trips to the dealer to get one thing or another sorted.

Not sure how the Octy ranks so highly in the Autoexpress reliability survey?

people only bitch when they have problems, when they don't reliability is taken for granted and therefore people won't comment on this. When people have problems they like to vent their frustrations to the wider audience.

Sounds like a minor fault and should be an easy fix. Look out for rattling trims after the repair. Don't let this "niggle" prevent you from posting about how good your new car really proves to be long term.

Good luck.

G.K.

Had a similar event within 24hrs of ownership of the Mk2.

Rear nearside cable wrapped round the motor and shattered the glass. Quite a common fault on the rear windows I've learned.

on my 3rd skoda in a row..i'd never bought the same car even twice, so it shows what i think of them..brilliant :)..stick with it

I'm sure it will be fine but after 3 years with a 15 year old Corrado (home on Satnav was set to the garage for repairs!) it would be nice to have something that doesn't need anything doing to it for a while!

Mine is coming on 6 months old with 16k and not one single problem.

Mines gone past 3 years and 61K miles and only niggly problem was recently when a sensor went that cost a few pence to replace.

54k 3yrs old next March on my Octy estate, only problems have been, poor radio reception, vibration in the dash & the flashing red light on the drivers door card not working. All items corrected under warranty. The out of shape rear tyre might have been the Dunlop or is the alignment of the car, I won't know which until the new tyre has done 40k. This is my second Octy (first was a mk1) and wife has the Fabia (both front window regulators failed on that). When I replace the Octy next March I will probably get a ........Skoda Octavia.
