Devilsown Water Injection Install

Featured Replies

Currently installing my Devilsown kit which arrived today.

As the car is stripped, I am thinking of putting the pump along side the wiper motor under the front panel of the car. This is easy at the moment as the bulkhead plate is out etc.

Just one question, should i ever need to get to the pump? As it will be much more difficult once the engine is in and panels back in.

If not, any other suggestions on locations, my other option which i'm considering is under the boot floor by the spare wheel (there is more room here in the estate)

Alex

I would favour trying to re-locate the battery in by the spare wheel if there is room and keep all the W/M stuff up front. With the battery gone I reckon there'd be plenty of room for pump & reservoir there. (unless you're tapping into the washer bottle?)

I have got a large washer bottle for the xenons so was going to use that

Wouldn't that mean you couldn't use water/methanol mix?

Washer fluid is 40% methanol anyway, so just going to run staight 50/50mix in the washer bottle

Alex

Yeah - You can use W/M as washer fluid. Well - battery relocation isn't that hard to do - You'd just be running some 4awg down the car rather than the electrics & pipework for the pump. Plus, do you want the car to be a show-car during 2009, as the W/M gear up front gives good engine bay bling compared to a battery. :)

What did you do with the fuses that are on top of the battery?

Guess that clears it up, I always thought screenwash was ethanol. Obviously I've misread the label!

Just checked the Devils' Own website and the stage 2 injection kit seems to be around $300. Is this right? That seems a little cheap for something which seems fairly involved.

Pardon my ignorance

Left them "cocooned" in a section of the old battery box in the engine bay (cable tied to the neck of the washer bottle to keep in place), and the 4awg was tapped into the main power connection off the battery box. :) Made sure it was a solid joint too, but you can't help question yourself when hacking through the main oem power wire...

This pic from my W/M install shows it. Not pretty but brutally effective. The red wire is the power wire going to the battery in the back - PS: I got power wire from a boatyard as I didn't trust audio 4awg to be up to the job. ;)

Didn't like the plate I made up to bolt onto the SMIC mounting bolts? - easy to get to through the wheel arch...

There's some pics on here but can't be bothered to search...

Still got my intercooler there Basil!

Now thinking of putting the water injection pump where the airbox is as i'm putting in a Jetex carbon airbox and i think both will fit in the one space

The VW stage 2 kits are $370.50 plus parcelforce clearence fees (£8) and import duty (£38.15).

I'm doing them in the group buy for Briskoda members £229 delivered.

Hmm...

:D

Money's low and... er... I'll probably need a FMIC and an exhaust first, then there's the mapping... er...

*crunches his own credit*

Thanks though, I didn't realise water injection was this cheap these days.

Can anyone tell me how you "fasten" the nozzle into to pipe you put it in? I can see how it goes on the outside of the pipe, but what stops it coming out? I dont have any nuts in the kit?

iv just picked up some of these they come in packs of three and i plan to refit the nozel with one the tank fitting with another and the crankcase breather filter can use the last one

Mine needed a thread tapping into the pipe and the nozzle screwed in. Different kit though but I was wondering if the D.O nozzle was also threaded?

Ah right. I was going to fit it into the plastic pipe, but ill do it into my egr bypass now then as it's metal.
