My Skoda Octavia 4x4 Turbo

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I have finally converted to Briskoda after a year of being in the Cupranet.

I thought I share with you all pictures of my car.

The eagle eyed of you will notice the inteerior which is not available in the 4x4 in the uk. Even althought it is a genuine UK car bought thru Skoda Dealership. It apparently was one that 'lost it's way'. It has been to Jabbasport about 7mths ago and got remapped to 224bhp & has a whoosy DV which has not given me any problems.

Why oh why would you buy an RS.

Maybe because a vRS looks 10 times better than a 4x4. the fwd has traction control thats more than enough, the 4x4 is too safe.

Hi Biodad and welcome!

I hope:

was a ;) comment! Otherwise you can go back to Cupranet!

How do you find the 224bhp? Have you got a kick-in-the-back remap (my preferred!)?

I've been looking for a whooshy DV - which one have you fitted?

Dave, is your stang a 5.0 winsor or 5.7 cleveland? What is top mph, 0-60 and bhp?

Hello,

The 224bhp is wonderful. If I say it makes the car feel the way it should have left the factory. I think that says it all.

At a local Drag strip (Crail Airfield) I have beaten a Clio V6. We did 3 runs coz the clio owner could not believe it.

I got my DV from the states it a Go Faster Bits, they are availible from Impossible Performance. Are the worth it, nah not really, coz the 1.8T re-circulates 25% of boost it does not dump that much to atmosphere. You really have to be running high boost. I'm at 1.3bar dropping to 1.1 and thats not really enough

my god! Are you talking about the Clio v6 Renault sport? the one with the mid engine and rwd???

How did you manage that???

  • Author

I could not believe it. Yes were talking the 3.0 mid engined one.

I talked to the owner ( and laughed at him) . Off the line my 4x4 launchs nicely. The clio owner says his car is cr*p in first and second then it starts to go in 3rd.

I cannot disagree, I get the launch off the line on him, but by mid way up the track he is catching but not enough to pass me by the end of the 1/4 mile. nice.:D

Seriously I'm telling the truth the were about a thousand witnesses that day

14.2secs

LOL GUTTED! I cant wait to get my vrs! the cliosport v6 does look very nice though. What is the 0-60 in your 4x4? Well done!

I don't know the 0-60 time. I have not timed it.

I had a bit of a fright one day.

Before my car went to Jabba at a RR in Kircaldy it recorded 168bhp, which would tie up with the 10/15% normal increase on VAG figures.

At Jabba it was chipped to 224bhp.

A couple of month later I went back to the RR in Kircaldy with group from Cupranet. The car only recorded 186bhp. I found this very strange as the car did not feel and less powerful.

I doubt this figure very much and feel there mabey a bit of 'massaging' with air temp etc.

My friend has a Cupra R. Which recording an oustanding 192bhp, has problem with overboosting which accounted for the spike hence 192bhp, but looking at the graph without the spike still produces around 185bhp.

So given that my skoda weighs the same as an elephant. I doubt the RR figure of 186bhp is correct.

It's a 351 - so 5.7...

Top mph - geared for around 120ish at the mo

0-60 - no idea - rapid! Let down only by my abismal shifting

bhp? - again no idea - somewhere over 300 I think (engine is std apart from headers+flowmaster zorst+750 double pumper carb)

Took her out for a spin today, :D <-- me

Biodad,

Great figures, great car, great choice.

I hope to get my first pictures soon in order to send them to Manny for his site. You will see that my 4x4 only looks twice as ugly as an RS, instead of the ten times estimated by day tripper ;)

How about lowering your car?

Have only got mine for a couple of days and am still running it in, but traction off the line beats any similar FWD/TC car while it corners as on rails, unlike any similar FWD/TC car. I suppose that was what your semi-serious 'Why o why' comment was aimed at :D

Oh, but they know. ;)

Then again, I can only agree that the RS is a better looking car. Definitely.

biodad

I think you must have one of the most unique 4x4's in the country. I dont think there are to many hatch 4x4's around.

If you want you can send me some bigger pics like dutch4x4 above is and I can put it in the briskoda gallery. See link in my sig.

I didnt know of a hatch 4x4? import? would prefer if it the vrs was 4x4 and 300bhp!

Dave would you say the stang is considerably faster acceleration than your vRS? and if you had to choose one what would it be the vrs or the stang?

Does the stang have leaf springs?

Fancy swapping your stang for my capri???

When I was shopping for an Octavia last June there were a number of non-standard specification demonstrators around which had been registered in late March by Skoda UK, including a 4X4 Estate with 15" alloys not listed as options.

Time to walk the dogs........dog.gifdog.gif

Biodad, :drive:

I didn't know they did a hatch 4x4 either!

Is the GFB DV you got the Hybrid one?

Did you get it 'as-is' or d you have to get an adaptor kit?

I found the GFB web site (Go Faster Bits) and in the resellers it says there is an Impossible Performance in Kent (darn - sarf) so I'll try them!

Have you got an aftermarket exhaust?

DayTripper:

Considerably - although I dont 'drag' it (much ;) )

Yes it has leafs

Hmmm Choose one? Toughy that...

The stang is not practical and is a pig to drive sometimes - but it's an experience to drive (and an adventure sometimes - i.e. will you make it to your destination or not!) and as for the V8 soundtrack....

The vRS is a new car so totally different - a bit 'clinical' compared to the Muzzie I suppose but it has a good mix of practicality + performance. Although saying that i've had it for almost 18 months and i'm getting a bit bored now.... Hence the thoughts of tinkering or selling....

Swap Muzzie for your Capri? Errr... some say the Capri is the English version of a Stang! So no to the Capri but I will swap it for 13k if you're interested :)

Hello,

I will try an answer your questions If I can remeber them as I go.

My DV is the Go Faster bits hybrid. It fit straight out of the box. Although, this sound strange but fits upside down. If you've got one you'll know what i mean.

I have thought about lowing my car, I have looked about for springs and believe the lowering springs from the VW Bora 4-motion are the same. I would like to here from anyone else who knows any better. Bear in mind it is a 4x4 hatch.

I do not have an aftermarket exhaust on the car. All that has been down is Jabba'd, the car is very very well looked after don't want to spoil it.

Although I am considering an RS front and rear bumper with the backbox from the rs. The only reason is some **** in Asda carpark decided to imprint his towbar in my front bumper. As I will need to change the front one anyway I am considering the RS ones.

Mannyo, photos on the way.

13k if ihad the money spare! Ive seen a good few similar to yours at

Funny... on these bigger pictures it doesn't look as high up on its springs as it does in the original attachment!

That's the Panama interior, isn't it? Looks classy with the burgundy! You'd never know that this a performance car until it beat you

Is the sunroof standard equipment in the UK? I remember it being so.

Car has Climate Control & sunroof

Biodad20

Your car is only the second 4x4 hatch ive seen , and if im right its now been discontinued in the UK , now 4x4s (apart from what is left 'in stock') can be ordered only in estate versions on the 03 M.Y. so it will be a rare car too! Have you had any reliability probs since your remap/DV swap?, and do you have to use 98 ron Super fuel in her now? Please post some more pics if/when you lower her and fit the RS front and rear ends (rear hatch spoiler too?) it may confuse a few folk when its finished! "Do the do the RS in Burgandy now?"...lol

Dmac,

I have to admit I have not seen another 4x4 hatch. I would love to hear of anyones else who owns one. I would also love to know if there is another one in the country with the' panama ' interior like mine. It appears to be a kind of elegence/L&K interior, has the half beige leather but has black leather gear/handbrake gaiters. Oh and also has black carpets? Does anyone else have a similar car?

I usually use standar unleaded Monday to Friday, mabry twice a month I fill with Optimax and go for a gentle blast.

I have not no problems with the car whatsoever in the 14 months I've owned it, apart from one. Which I am sur none of you will be suprised it involved an ignition coil.

A big thanks to Mannyo for putting my car photos in the gallery.

Biodad20

Just looked at your gallery pix , and realised your car is Cayenne met , not burgandy at all , oops! I love that colour , if i was to get a non RS octavia that would be the colour id go for. Looking at your interior it does look like an L&K Half leather/Half Alcantara interior , so how the hell did it find its way into an elegance 4x4? Looks good tho , works well with the exterior colour...(makes mental note...must...book...jabba...chip....) LOL

Duncan, 'Panama' is an optional interior on the Elegance, so nothing to do with the L&K.
