Linksys WRT54G Firmware

Featured Replies

Have just managed to sort out a small technical problem with my wireless network after I upgraded my WRT54G V1.0 to the latest firmware version on the Linksys website.

If you plan to install this version, be warned it reduces the power output level of the wireless connection making it next to useless unless you are next to the thing.

However I have now installed a 3rd party firmware on the box, and I have full control over the power output from the unit, its now pumping out a massive 250mw of power. Just to give an idea, after the linksys upgrade the power out is reduced to 28mw. Well happy now as I have a larger range than before. I used to get 1 or bars on the XP strengh meter at my desktop pc, now its nearly max'd out. Had to reset a few things including security settings but all is well now.

Any links please manny? I also have a WRT54G. Upstairs PC has two bars on the strength meter, downstairs PC even less............
