Irregular idicator 'sound' when braking

Featured Replies

just been for a ride out on the sunshine (irrelevant really) and noticed that when putting the indicator on to turn right, and braking at the same time the 'tick tick tick' noise is not the regular noise that i'm used to.

Anybody got any ideas (i though a bad earth or something, but i know nowt really). not sure if the left indicator is the same, as i've not been round many roundabouts leftwards for long enough............

Ta much!

Could a blown indicator bulb be causing it ie the working one blinking quicker

Hey up Gaff.

when i'm not braking the tick tick noise sounds normal. its just every now and again it doubble tick-tick's rapidly, and then carries on with the normal tick tick again.....

Don't think thats explained very well is it?

I was thinking along the same lines as Gaff. Could it be the brake light bulb that's gone ?

...or could the brake light be shorting out the indicator light?

couldn't be anything to do with c.j's erm... intresting experiiance last night could it? ;)

My indicators went silent for a while on my previous Fabia. The dealer diagnosed a faulty Dash Panel Insert (DPI) which cured it.

Gilly, you sure it is related to braking, as this was exactly the same as happened on my Octy when the Hazard light switch packed up. The timing for the indicators is controlled by the switch, and is quite a common problem apparently.

I had the same problem with my indicators. I dont think it had any connection with braking, just think you probably are slowing down each time you use them.

The indicators on my vRS started to speed up or slow down. I brought it back to my friendly Skoda dealer, and the whole hazard warning lights' button unit was replaced there and then. I think it is a known flaw in VAG cars. :)

Maybe not then...... might just be i've noticed it more when i'm braking! guess a trip to the dealer is imminent then, especially if it is a well know VAG problem. I'll check all me bulbs fisrt, just so i don't look daft!

It is intermittent, as yesterday i had no bother at all with it.........

Thanks for all your helps!!
