Bargain new tyre

Featured Replies

Pretty much as the the title says really. Got a puncture in my 19" tyre and went to a new place in Lincoln. I know the guy a little but not sure if he discounted me. The tyre is not a branded make, but only cost me £85 for a 235/35/19!!! A bargain me thinks

From £68.50

Be wary of non-branded tires ! Not all cheap tires are rubbish. Hankook, Falken, Fulda, Federal and even Nangkang don't seem to generate many horror stories, but a mate of mine did this to a Wanli in 9 laps (less than 10 miles) of Blyton Park....

Remember, your tires are the only thing which connects you to the road surface, and thus is one area I would not want to compromise too much on. Out of the tires listed on the link I posted above, I think the Avon ZZ3 are very good value.

Be aware of a pretty strange behavior of the car in emergency situations. You only changed one of the tires, which means (to me) that on one axle there are two different tires (compound, thread, threaddepth).

In germany and holland there were already a couple of tests of these chinese tires. None of the tested tires were recommended. Some of them had serious safety problems.

Wakitaki Ditchfinders [tm] FTW!

wnali were slated in an autoexpress tyre test, as actually dangerous...

the ZZ3's? I had them on my vRS, gripped well enough, but one of them cracked on the inside, where the wall meets the tread... I noticed strange noises, when confirmed it wasn't wheel bearings, I changed the tyre,,, tyre place showed me the crack, and said it could have blown at any time....

I've also had a federal's structure fall apart and go oval on me (still gripped ok) and my falken 512's I had on the fiat were SO bad they are now in my shed as spares with pleanty of tread left... the F1's that replaced them are a world of difference.... don't think I'm gonna go the cheap route again....

Got Wanli tyres on the rear at the moment. Done about 6k miles on them and they don't seem any different to the Uniroyal Rainsport I got with the alloys.

WTF they look like retreads where the tyres have had a new tread stuck to the old carcase. Right mess that.
