Boost Gauge Problem !

Featured Replies

Iv finally managed to get my boost gauge fitted :D but when its ideling and when Im just pottering along say 30mph in 4th gear the needle is all over the place !

Even when its on boost its not that steady ??

Have I done something wrong ? Iv tapped into the boost pipe like everyone else has and just fed the pipe to the back of the gauge !

Something just doesnt seem right ???

Any advice appreciated

its a mechanical gauge, it seemed to be getting too much pressure to it so I fitted the T piece into the pipe (blocking one of the holes up of course) that has a restrictor in one of the outlets and its absolutly fine now :D

I had the same problem. Reduce the diameter of the piping to little bigger than a pinhead at a certain point and its all sorted.

How can it get too much pressure??? if you have reduced the pressure then the gauge can't be reading the correct pressure

thats what I did, one of the outlets of the T piece had a reducer in it like a pin head and it worked fine after adding that into the pipe :D

Its now sorted and working spot on :D

what does yours boost to out of interest?

Boost guage should read the same what ever size pipe you have connected to it the rdeuce in pipe stops it from buzzing as well :)

what does yours boost to out of interest?

Mine peaks at 25psi when you 1st put your foot down but then drops down to about 20psi straight away and stays there after that :)

Sounds like it boosts quite high to me, is it remapped?

My 04 peaks at about 20, then holds at 19psi slowly dropping when Hit about 4k rpm.

No mine is not mapped standard but is running 150bhp mine does drop after 4k too, ill get a little video of mine up later

out of interest, how can it be running 150 when you've only done the PD intake and a panel filter? Surely you dont get 20bhp from that???? (confused face ;) )

I dont know either but it has been on a rolling road 3 times and all come out with the same result from different places.

If it's the BLT engine it could be putting out nearer 150 than 130.
