Hi,

Just bought a '98 Octavia 1.9Tdi as my commute to work just became 58 miles each way, from the more reasonable 3.5 miles I used to do in my Saab Turbo... enjoying the 53mpg at motorway speeds

I'd guess 30ish, because IME that's the sort of mpg Saabs usually give!

Hi sorry for the delay ... the Saab 9-3 2.0 turbo auto got 24-25 on the 3.5 mile commute and 30 on the motorway in the third lane. my previous 9000 2.3 auto (225hp) one was 23 commute and 27 on a motorway journey, with 'spirited driving' ...

The Skoda just keeps doing 53mpg or in the really bad weather where the sensible speed was in the 50's ... 62mpg !

Happy :) now I just need to find time to service it, get new tyres, sort the loose connection to the heater and top up the battery acid and I'll be happy ! but the first 1700miles have gone well
