Featured Replies

I have been looking at maybe getting a set (or 2) of metal pressed plates from link below.Have anybody got a set of these and if so could they post a pic up of the quality or pm me and send me email if they don't want there plate showing.

Looking at a set of normal legal spacing ones and then black/white show plates.

Dubmeister - Where performance meets style!

I got a legal rear one the other day using a contact who goes through Dubmeister. Trouble is, it came with none of the etching needed (BS no. postcode, etc) so I had to send it back again and I'm waiting for it now.

Will PM you a link to a picture in a sec as I don't want the whole world to see it :D

Dubmeister have a very good rep, I know quite a lot of people who've used them. Over on E38 and other forums, for example.

I like the look, but I'd worry about the continued clamp down on plates. I couldn't be doing with the hassle. Would they be using the standard UK font? And I'm curious as to whether the BS standard relates only to the reflectivity, or to other things as well - such as the material used to manufacture the plate itself?

Steve

Ive got pressed metal plates from dudmeister and they look really good and im really happy with them. I know they are illegal but as of yet ive had no trouble with the police and they always seem to be where i am or behind me and they are normally strict around where i live. Ive got standard lettering and i think they are easier to read.

You can get them with the proper regulation markings as well, which makes them road-legal. :)

Another point i forgot to mention......

should i go for shortened plates or standard size?

Plate is 'J#YMD' so short plate may look better.but will it fit on rear hatch without looking odd?

I'm still yet to be convinced of this "crackdown", TBH. Fair enough targeting the "yoof" in their Golfs or whatever, but how about the BMW and Merc brigade in the fast lane of the M1 with their illigally spaced, fancy fonted acrylic plates?

Anyway, my opinion... if you're doing legal, do it properly - and don't go for the short plate :)

AFAIK, the BS standard(s) for plates refers to the font, the spacing and the materials - I'm not sure if its the same BS number, but all are covered.

Syntax error!

Yep - BS AU 145d applies to this standard.

[referring to his stickers he puts on his own front plate] :o

Least you've got a legal sticker then ;)

Why block out the number on that reg? It can only really be one number! I'm not gona say what I think it is as you obviously don't want it known.

Post a pic if you get it done and photoshop that hidden digit :D

im using pressed plates, for a year now and had no hassle, although i still have my legel legit ones in the boot just incase i get stopped.

i have some pressed ones on my fab vrs, theyre officially show plates, but look smart and the quality is good. also try craigsplates.co.uk they do some good ones which are also good quality.

I have had no trouble with my "show" plates :) yet.....

I had a set of Dubmeister pressed plates on my Octy - although they when I bought them they didn't offer the legal version.

Never had any probems with them, although I had a Skoda Auto number plate holder and carried the original ones on top of the spare wheel just in case I had to do a quick change!

Quite a few more pics showing them in my detailing thread - http://briskoda.net/styling-car-care/detailing-pc-session/82197/
