Talex Lite with red display

Featured Replies

Anybody got a Talex with the display in red? Or was it only available in green?

I'd like to change mine to red to match my VW red blue dash, any ideas if this would be possible?

I think the red ones were exclusive to Argos. I am aware some did surface but green took over. Have you tried contacting talex? personally unless you have very good soldering skills then i guess it be unlikely to do. unless you get a very thin coloured film that you could put over the green to make red??

It's an easy swap to do you just need to change the LED segments from green ones to red ones. I'll have a look at the talex lite i have in pieces on the desk and see if i can find you the correct part numbers.

I'm assuming you can solder, but it's not complex soldering either.

I've had them off and back on on the one in pieces before i gave up on it.

Did think about trying to swap the whole of the LED display but couldn't find anything like it at RS components. If you could find some partnumbers I'll have a go at trying to change them.

The LED display is just 3 or 4 * 7 segment displays.

the extra LEDs are mounted elsewhere on the same circuit board.

Taken my Talex apart and have got this number off the 4 x 7 segment LED; LFD2652-10. Now just need to know where I can buy a red display. Looks fairly straight forward a soldering job after that.

have you looked on fleabay?

One of mine has a solid bank of 4 7 segments.

Maplin sell those in various colours so shouldn't be too hard, just a case of matching size and either finding out or hoping that the voltage range is the same or similar.
