Difference 150/180/225bhp engine differences

Featured Replies

Correct me if i am wrong please:

150bhp AUG ko3 turbo

180bhp AUM K03s Turbo

225bhp bigger injectors k04 turbo bigger intercooler??

Me and a few mates want the claify the above differences...

Obviously they have different ecu settings.

Do they run differeing standard boost??

Any other major differences??

don't know about the codes, but I do know that (some?) later 150bhp engines had a K03s turbo rather than a K03 and I think there's more to the 225 engine than a bigger turbo/injectors (rods, pistons etc?)

all 150bhp 1.8t's post 2001 had K03's, the 180bhp didn't come out until then anyway and had a K03s, the 210/225 engines have different rods/pistons/turbo/manifolds(exhaust to match K04 and inlet is right handed)/larger MAF and tip/twin SMIC'c(the same intercooler just two of em) but then the earlier engines had larger ports and bigger valves but that was on the 150bhp engines mainly :)

there are going to be other changes but thats most of the major ones.

the blocks are the same btw.

oh yeah, only real difference between the 150bhp and 180bhp engines running the K03s is that the 150bhp runs about 7psi and the 180bhp runs 10psi i think, can't really remember too clearly as its been years since mine was standard and i've never owned a 180bhp :)

Yeah my standard 180bhp AUQ runs at 10psi peak boost.

I've seen some 150bhp engines with cable throttle, rather than electronic like mine. But I'm guessing that's just on older 150bhp engines....

The 225 engine code is BAM and the inlet manifold is also the other way round (throttle assembly on the right hand side rather than the left)

it's not the 225 engine code, it's a 225 engine code. isn't AMU the engine code for a 225 TT quattro?

yeah the drive by cable engines are simply the older 1.8t's, as far as i know they also didn't have VVT like the later ones.

mentioning the engine code doesn't really help and i've already posted about the right handed inlet manifold :)

APX and BAM are both 225 bhp engines

IIRC the AMU is the 210 bhp variant, bit foggy on that though.
