Replacement Battery

Featured Replies

Hi to all,

I am trying to replace my battery as advised by the friendly RAC man this morning as he started it for me....

I have been to a local battery independant and now Halfords but the battery they have as an equivalent is about 30mm longer than the original.

It will just fit in the holder but the -ve terminal has a 30mm aluminium arm on it which means that the -ve terminal cannot be fitted as the cable rests on the plastic rear cover.

Both the independant and Halfords assure me that I will only get a new battery at the dealer.... Independant £60, Halfords £95, Dealer £?00's...!

I will visit the dealer if I have to but they are about the worst dealer since dealers were invented and I wondered if anyone else had come up against the same problem...

The car is the Octy II 2.0 Diesel DSG and the battery should be 61Ah, the replacement was 68Ah and so bigger.....

Kind Regards

Any good??

Performance Batteries

Put in 2004 model and battery £65 not sure of dimensions though?

Your local TPS will have a replacement battery. You could also try GSF.

That is the battery they showed me in Halfords. It would fit but the -ve terminal design means I could not connect it.

Having said all that I have resorted to getting a battery from the Dealer for £97. They don't have one in stock ( I don't think they have anything in stock...) I'll be collecting it tomorrow.

For the record the battery I need is 61Ah 240mm x 170mm x 190mm and the batteries I found for sale were 278mm x ....

37mm longer is not suitable in my car.
