Harman kardon drive & play

Featured Replies

I want to wire one of these into my 07 Octavia 4x4 for my iPod (yes, I'm aware of the aux socket in the jumbo box). Has anyone else done it?

Most importantly can anyone give send me or point me to a PDF wiring diagram? My e-mail is [email protected]

I have the Stream radio, and to wire in the drive & play I'll need to identify the following wires: ACC, 12V switched, and a suitable earth point, or earth connection to current stereo.

Have a search in the Octavia 2 section chap, similar issues have been covered before, there is a switched live you can take directly from the fuse box, I used it for hardwairing my talex on my last 2 octy's but can't remember the fuse number (but have posted it up many moons ago)

take a look on Stu's site, Octavia-vRS.com - MFD2 Install Guide you can see the wiring / pin outs for the stream MP3 there. A trawl through the search utility should yield most of what you are seeking :)

Hi,

I installed one of these in my Seat nearly 3 years ago now and can highly recommend it, esp. as now they can be bought new on eBay for around £30 - £40. I paid near on £200 for mine!

The problem with Octavia 2 (like my Seat) is that there is no aux key switch pos'n feed - the radio gets it's ign feed from the CAN bus.

You will need a perm +ve, you can derive this from back of radio, a -ve feed, again from the back of the radio and then a full ign ON feed can be got from the fuse box under the dash. Alternatively, you can buy a CAN Bus addaptor that will give you a proper switched +ve feed as per the radio, but these aren't particularly cheap.

The dissadvantage of using the full key ON feed is that if you are using the D&P, when you switch the engine off, after a short OFF delay it will power off, even thouh the stereo is still live!

Also, a couple of points about D&P - it switches off after 1 hour, very annoying (until you get used to it!) as it has a timer function and can't be disabled and when it is powered up, it always starts playing!

Lastly, you could possibly install the brain under the centre console and use a short 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo lead to plug into aux socket in Jumbo box.

H.T.H

John.

I put one into my vRS about 6 months ago.

I took my ashtray out and fed the cables in through the back of that. There is just enough room to close the flap and hide the screen away. I've put the controller puck in one of the centre console cupholders with the wire coming out of the bottom through the console.

The brain box I velcroed inside the underseat tray again and tidied up all the cables. 3.5 lead straight from that into the jumbobox.

Didnt want to go hacking the loom to pieces so just got a 3 way power adapter and put in in the passengers underseat storage tray. Got the one with the smallest, most unobtrusive plug and with a power switch on so it only comes on when needed. Works great! Mine doesn't turn itself off after an hour????
