Mystery warning light

Finallly got the issues with my Octy vRS sorted out and I'm back to enjoying it again, but something a bit odd happened on a wet roundabout this morning and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas?

That roundabout always causes wheelspin in the wet because of a bump as you cross the white lines, and on previous occasions that's triggered the orange ABS/ASR light. This morning I caught sight or a small red indicator flickering slightly dead centre at the bottom of the dial and just above the odometer, but too quick for me to see it clearly. I could feel something different hapening with the traction but it didn't feel like it was being reined in. Looking in the manual reveals no light whatsoever in that location. Anyone know what it could be or am I actually losing it?

Oh, just a sideline - does anyone know if the parking mirror trick that used to be present on early Leon Cupras can be enabled with VAG.COM on the MK1 vRS? It used to allow you to set a downwards facing reversing position for the nearside mirror that it would switch to as soon as you engaged the gear.
