Sealed my leaking doors today

Featured Replies

Hi guys, followed the guide and the back door hasn't leaked since, but noticed it started on the front. How easy is it to get the front drivers side door trim off??

Cheers

It's not too bad, but I had problems getting the window switches out. That's the hardest bit. Took me and someone else from here a good half an hour to get it out! It just takes a bit of perserverence!! If I remember correctly there's a clip at the back which you need to push one way or another, you'll need to ind a suitable tool for the job! Good luck!

Yeah, it was a pig. But it was Bezzys car and I didn't want to break

anything. How you doing Dan?

Those clips are mental! they can take hours with out the right tool.. well, they can take minutes if ya force them but that just leaves you with trim that never sits back down as it should..

Also, I changed both trim parts when I bought the car (previous owner mashed them installing speakers).... but I think the body of the pull handle / windows switches deforms as well when forced because the new parts clipped in nicely but still down sit down as they should.. they're maybe 3mm proud at the back.. Hmmmmmm..

So basically, sort a bent metal rod or the like because you can mess the door card up way to easily.

.... On a side note, I had a new regulator panel fitted about 12 months ago.... The other day it let the rain straight through.. lol.. So, Skoda seal life expectancy? 12 months give or take... it's such a bad design!

Can anyone recommend something to remove old sealant from the door. I did mine about 3 yrs ago & they are just starting to leak again. I've removed most of the silicon, but ther is just small bits left on the door, & I didn't know if anyone knew a easier way to remove it? Many thanks George .

a safety razor blade.

Cheers guys, I have a haynes manual somewhere, not in English though, but if I can find it and it has pictures I'll try put them on the site.
