Got 2 minutes to spare? read this....

Hi, me and two mates are taking part in the Mongol Rally next July. Basiclly it's 10,000 miles from London to Mongolia, with no back up, no route and an unsuitable car. The rules are that the car's gotta be 1.2 or less and less than ten years old.

We've decided to do it in a Felicia, so i thought it may be a good idea to get in contact with people who know about them cos we don't yet. Is there anything we should look out for? - obvious downfalls of the felicia. I've looked around and it seems that the central locking is something that goes wrong - but we'll let that one slide.

The point of the rally is to raise money for charity. We need sponsorhsip and wondered if companies/people would sponsor us? It's gonna be filmed for tv too - we think it'll be MTV so it could be great exposure.

If you're interested in helping us/ advising us/sponsoring us or anything please get in touch.

Thanks for reading this

Nick

I don't know much about the Felicia but good luck all the same! And welcome to Briskoda :)

Hi, a bit of bad news, the smallest engined Felicia is a 1.3.

yeah, it's a fine of £100 every 100cc over 1.2, but it'll be worth it.

Give the suspension a good checking over..

Check for any warm start problems (related to faulty temperature sensor which will also lead to poor running and bad fuel consumption).

Although you're probably not too fussed but check for rust on wheel arches and boot lid.

Make sure its generally been looked after... Good servicing does these cars a lot of good so maybe get air/fuel/oil filter changed as well as HT leads, plugs and oil before setting off on your journey!

Good luck!

Phil

Welcome to the site :)

You might want to also post this thread in general car chat and the felicia section to get more interest.

Are you intending to obtain donations through a site like Justgiving or similar?

I know someone who took part in the Mongol Rally this year - haven't heard from her since*

Anyway, welcome to the site and the best of luck with your challenge

* that is actually a true story, but I presume they made it back okay :o

welcome along, dont forget to stick a brisky sticker in the window its a good luck sticker like the st christopher cross ;)

Hiya.

Check out the Favorit, Felicia et al forum for more than you ever wanted to know on the cars. And try to sort out roaming access (laptop etc) cos we'll do roadside assistance (as near as possible given the potential time difference).
