Help!

I know I should look in the manual but I don’t have one. I’m going to order a Haynes today online for next time this kind of thing happens but thing is, I need to drive home tonight.

I need to replace a headlight bulb! How do I do it?!?

I picked up the right bulb from Halfords – they had two for one on super bright ones so I’m going to do both sides - the branch I went to couldn’t fit it for me though.

:o

1. Just open up the bonnet

2. Unscrew the plastic cover from the back of the headlight unit

3. Pull the plug off the back of the bulb

4. Push the little wire clip that holds the bulb in and push it up to un-hook (have a look at how it hooks on and you will see how you need to push it. You may need to use a screw driver to pry it open as it can be a bit stiff)

5. Remove bulb

6. Put new bulb in place.. will only go in one way due to grooves

7. Push wire clip back over the bulb

8. Plug the 3 pin connector back into the back of the bulb.

9. Re-fit the plastic cover to the back of the light unit

10. Close bonnet and off you go!

Hope that helps!

Phil

also, don't touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers

Thanks! Hasty reply as at work - will let you know how i get on.

It's dead easy. Why pay Halfords monkeys to do it on a car as simple to maintain as a Felicia.

Follow Phils instructions and you should be fine.

agh! did they give a reason? it's like a gift of a job to change them!

H4 bulb it should be - 472SB?

The possibility is the lack of trained staff. When I worked at Halfords for a while I fitted light bulbs, stereos and wiper blades without thinking about it, but I was a trained mechanic, back then they didn't have any formal training schemes in place for the staff. I don't know what it is like now, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was still the same.

Sure I read on these forums for replacing the battery it flashes up on the Halford's screen not to change the battery on the felicia - with the reason most likely being the strut brace has to come out first making the job very very difficult :D

Thank you everyone!

I don't think my local Halfords does much if any installation. It's in the middle of town and there's no parking.

I've managed to change one bulb but the other is trickier to get to as the air filter is in the way (at least I think it's the air filter - I'm looking forward to that Haynes manual arriving!). Fortunately this isn't the one that has gone - I just have one side a little brighter than the other for now, which isn't ideal but will have to do until tomorrow.

The brighter bulb is fab though - I had no idea it would make such a difference!

Yep, the left side (with the air filter) is a pretty tight fit, changed my bulbs the other week and was thankful for my neat and ladylike hands :D -but at least it can be done without dismount anything.

No gf that can assist you? :)
